Learn how to use Google like a Pro

Title tags and meta descriptions are the first elements that your users see when they make a research on search engines. So no need to explain you how important those data are for the your page rank. Indeed, the title tag / meta description tag is one of the main criteria used by Google’s algorithm for positioning your pages. So how to optimize your title tags and meta description?

Title Tags: what are the main optimization rules?

The title tag has a double challenge regarding the SEO of your pages. It must meet several imperative requirements set by Google and above all, meet the users requirements. In order to reach the objectives of relevance according to Google, the title tags should allow Google robots to understand your pages and therefore the customers’ request. To get this, it is necessary to insert a relevant keyword in the title tag of your page. The key phrase must be positioned at the beginning of the title and you must work on the lexical field of the subject. You also need to be very careful in not repeating the request several times to avoid an over optimization. In SEO courses, It is also recommended to not exceed 60 characters for the title tag, for the displayed title to not be cut by three dots. It is an important point, because this can show a lack of relevance in the eyes of Google. About the user experience, it is important to put yourself in the user’s shoes for offering quality content. It is also necessary to identify the needs and challenges of the user request in putting forward the keywords linked to his demand. Do not hesitate to insert commercial and geographic data (cheap – 60%, Quebec, Montreal, etc.) to be more eye-catching.

How to optimize your meta description?

Contrary to the title tag, the meta description is designed to seduce the audience, as the meta description is no longer a criteria in the Google web positioning. It can be considered as an indirect effect on the ranking, in the sense that it can offer a great user experience to all visitors. The meta description is a little longer than the title tag and allows you to fill out your offer. However, we must always keep in mind what the Internet user truly search and not exceed 150 characters.
