PHS Tree Tenders Training
Over the course of three Wednesdays in October, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society held classes in its long-running Tree Tenders program. Covering subjects ranging from planting and pruning to identification, long-term care, and community interaction, this program serves to prepare individuals looking to take tree-related initiative in their communities for the job ahead of them.
The Tree Tenders training program consequently aids the PHS-lead multi-state tree planting initiative Plant One Million with the goal of raising tree canopy cover in the Greater Philadelphia Area to at least thirty percent coverage. With over 3,800 graduates of the program, tree tenders serve as a sizable volunteer group to aid in this mission.
